Life is good with Loaf. She is usually happy and smiling unless she is mad and screaming. When screaming, it is usually due to one of the following; Mommy is gone, no boob around (see Mommy is gone), over tired, frustrated because she cannot get the entire world in her mouth. She is currently working on growing bottom teeth that haven't quite made an appearance. She loves: walks with Daddy, Mommy, boob, knuckle sandwiches, finger sandwiches, anything she can get a good suck on, being outside, riding on the bounce-a-tron (Daddy's special scream-soother interpretive dance), music, purple doggy, hangin' out in her exersaucer, going to the playground to watch the bigheads interacting with their small heads. She doesn't like footwear (Gasp!) and has hot sweaty feet. She has been known to make dolphin-like squeals and roll over. She is trying very hard to grasp things, and gets better every day. People say she looks like her Daddy. We really love her and think she's awful fun to hang out with. Nicknames: Lovey Loaf, Teency Peence, The face of evil, Pean (short for P Peanut), Secret licker, Sneaky licks, Ms., Anton Love-ay, Scoochie Mama. Stella would like to give a shout out to her many aunties: Auntie GG (godmother), Auntie TT, Auntie Elizabeth (co-godparent), Auntie Shannie, Aunt Manther, Auntie Jonathan, and Auntie Mimi. She would also like to send love to her boyfriend Mario Gonzalez-Chavez, for teaching her all about shark love.   -   Kate

The beautiful black and white photos of Stella (fourth month) were taken by Shannon Lundling. Our scanner does not come close to doing these photos justice.

Stella was born on December 23, 2001, at 7:38 am, to Kate Horn and Mark Davies. She is the most beautiful little Christmas present you could ever hope for. Kate labored for an excruciating 86 hours. Stella was in the posterior position, meaning her back was up against Kate's spine. This results in "back labor", which is especially painful. But Kate persevered bravely and after three and a half painful sleepless days and nights, Stella was born healthy and strong. I got to help catch the baby and cut the cord. Kate is recovering well, Stella is nursing like a champ, and the whole family is overjoyed.   -   Mark

We're beside ourselves with happiness. Stella has such a pleasant disposition, and many nicknames: Bunny, P Peanut, Lovey Loaf, Lizard Lovey Loaf, Sneaky Peeker, Weence, Freddy, Hoover, and Darth Vader. Stella's hobbies include staying up all night partying, eating boob, filling dipes, and making hilarious noises and faces. We like her and are planning on keeping her.   -   Kate

Special thanks to Ginger Eckert and Tara Beasley for making the labor somehow bearable.
